New Bank Account for Public Appeal for Donations

The Tonga Rugby Union Authority is pleased to inform the public that it has established a new bank account with the Westpac Bank of Tonga so that businesses and members of the public can deposit donations directly to the preparation of the ‘Ikale Tahi for the Rugby World Cup 2011.

The name of the bank account is “”Tonga Rugby Union Authority - RWC 2011 Fund Raising Account”.

The number of the account is: 2000836458.

The Authority wishes to acknowledge the assistance of Fine Tohi and Dateline Transam Shipping, the family of the late ‘Ikale Tahi legend, SiaosiSelupe II, and KalafiMoala and Taimi Media Network, for sponsoring the Authority’s television and radio programmes.

The Authority continues to invite businesses to support its fund raising efforts.

Tonga Under 20s to IRB Junior Rugby World Championship, Italy

The Tonga Under 20s Coach, BenhurKivalu, along with the selection panel have announced the squad to travel to Italy for the IRB Junior World Championship to be held from the 10th to the 26th June 2011.

Prior to departing for Italy, the squad will also pick up the remainder of the team for a full strength contingent, in Auckland, New Zealand.  The team will be in New Zealand for a week and will play a warm up game against the New Zealand National Under 20swho will also be at Junior Rugby World Championship in Italy.  The game will be on Thursday 2nd of June 2011, 3 pm at East Coast Bays Rugby Club, North Shore.

“We are looking forward to our games in Italy.  The boys have been physically and mentally prepared for the clash.  We are in the same pool with Australia, France and Fiji, not to mention the other eight countries vying for the title this year,” says BenhurKivalu, Under 20 Coach.  “We have boys who have been in the national 7s team as well as the Licensed Training Centre and other age grade competitions, so we expect higher standards of them and the experience to perform in the international arena.”

The Tonga Under 20s team departs for New Zealand on 30th May and onwards to Italy on the 5th June.  The team will arrive back in the Kingdom on the 30th June 2011.
